We are instructed by several key insurers and specialise in tax and accountancy related professional indemnity matters, acting for solicitors, accountants, IFAs and brokers throughout the UK. One insurer describes us as “the first port of call for accountancy related disputes particularly where there is a tax angle”.

Our team is headed by Karen Eckstein, who has a national reputation in the field. Karen is a dual qualified tax advisor and solicitor. She uses her dual qualification to ensure cost effective solutions to tax related professional negligence matters. Karen also regularly advises professionals on risk management and frequently lectures on the subject.

Our team is committed to the commercial and pragmatic resolution of professional indemnity disputes. We are experienced in mediation and alternative dispute resolution.

We are aware that being the subject of a professional negligence claim can be a distressing and sometimes traumatic experience. We provide a friendly and supportive service to professionals, whilst giving robust and commercial advice on the risks they face. If possible, and appropriate, we will work with the professional to maintain their own client relationship. We are aware that, for many professionals, we are the first experience they will have of their insurers’ client service. We pride ourselves on taking care to manage the relationship between insurers and insureds, in order to agree the way forward in cases, working in a collegiate manner to minimise the risk of conflict.

As well as handling professional indemnity claims, we are also often instructed to advise on a range of policy matters, including drafting policy wordings, advice on interpretation of wordings, advising on the application of minimum terms, and policy coverage issues.
